True Love

A local tabloid holds an annual writing competition with this single rule: use no more than 55 words.

I wrote the following for last year’s competition, but never submitted it. It’s even ten words under the maximum. Maybe I will next time around.

True Love

“True love,” she said, “is one of the most powerful forces in the universe. It can empower one to move mountains; it can motivate one to sacrifice everything.”

At that moment he realized, sitting across the table from her, that he didn’t truly love her.

About RNAdams2

I write what I call "supernatural suspense"; that is, suspenseful stories involving otherworldly events. I have a lot I could (and will) write about the topic. I could explain what I write as "horror," but I have always believed that an author should have the primary motive of horrifying his readers, which is not the case with me. I could call my writing "supernatural" or "paranormal," but my writing lacks much of the focus on romance/erotica or teenage angst that seems to be prevalent in those genres.
